Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Göttingen (OHG) is one of five grammar schools in Göttingen, a city of 140.000 inhabitants. Approximately two thirds of the students live in the surrounding rural areas (up to 30 km away). One third of the students live in the city of Göttingen, and to a large extent, these students come from families with a relatively low income, and quite a few are children of migrants.
OHG is an All-day-school which allows specialization in the fields of music and natural sciences, with large orchestras and choirs, regularly participating successfully in school competitions such as “Jugend forscht” (natural sciences), “Jugend debattiert” (debating) or “Jugend trainiert für Olympia” (sports). The school is one of the first to work semi-independently under regular supervision and has a small budget allowing to hire additional teachers.
